About Red Rose Four

Red Rose Four is a driven and talented recorder ensemble from the Netherlands featuring Nynke Algra, Nienke van der Meulen, Kim Stockx and Ester van der Veen. The ensemble already has accomplished many feats since its formation 5 years ago. In 2008 the ensemble, together with soprano Kitty de Geus, was a prizewinner at the International Young Artist Presentation - Early Music in Antwerp. The ensemble was praised for its solid and warm sound, its stable and professional presentation and for playing with great élan. Also, Red Rose Four has been selected for concerts during the International Summer of Music ( “Internationale Muziekzomer Gelderland”) together with recorder player Erik Bosgraaf, the Fringe of the Utrecht Early Music Festival and the Wunderkammer Festival in Trieste, Italy.
In each project, Red Rose Four invites musicians, singers or narrators to create an interesting and original program. For example “Like as the day” with soprano Kitty de Geus or “Concert in the Egg” with a narrator, harpist and singer. The ensemble has been under the guidance of specialists such as Daniël Brüggen (Amsterdam Loeki Stardust Quartet), Saskia Coolen and various members of Brisk Recorder Quartet en Flanders Recorder Quartet.
